| At Bug-o-Rama I asked a fellow Porsche friend about what oil he uses. 30 weight Castrol, my first question was why. Quick background on the guy. Airplane mechanic works at Mather and was Air Force Trained. Piston engine guy. He said and I have not check it out but he is a professional who cannot be wrong. A 5-50, 20-50, 10-40 any multi grade oil is 10 wt with an additive. If it get abused or contaminated or what ever the word he said it would revert back to 10w. Knowing him the information came from Aviation or Porsche research.
So a 40wt oil is 40wt and will be. I have read that Turbo's hate multi weight something about the additives and the bearings causes caking.
I use a Summit racing oil 30 wt with zink just for mechanical cams.
We come in contact with lots of information the trick is to make sure it is accurate. This could be logical Mobil does not have a drum and put 3 gallons of 10wt and 3 gallons of 50 to make 10/50.

| An afternoon is nothing compared to a night. Nights suck big time my brain never turns off. I fix most problems at 3am while sleeping. | |

| I could imagine...... What's funny to me (and the reason that I brought that up) is how you put up these things up like you just had a conversation with the guy this afternoon. Or maybe you forgot you had the conversation until today......??? | |

| What I know is that you need to use an oil with an API service rating of SL for a VW. I am pretty sure the oil from Summit meets the specifications. | |
