Any here use Engine Testers on old VWs? Like Dwell Tach meter?

Thinking about buy an older 80s, 70s, dwell tach meter and timing light so I can play with my VW Thing timing.

Anyone here have recommendations on these vintage testing units?

I've got an old "Monkey Wards" dwell meter that I use occasionally, it's handy for checking RPM. Timing light is a must have item! Glad to hear that you kept your Thing.

I consistently use my basic Tach/Dwell meter to check point gap and RPM, as well as a timing light. I have to remember to make sure to read the 4 cylinder scale, not the 8 cylinder one though!

Eric, now that Michelle is back on permanent full time work, my Thing came off the chopping block.

Of course I waffled on selling it anyway and put a rather high price on it NOT expecting any takers. So officially I put up for sale but unofficially did not.

Yaknow, a nice Compu-Fire ignition module is probably cheaper than a dwell meter.
