I believe it is a pancake motor. If I'm correct the last year for Type 1 motor is 71.

LOL, Well, one looks like it's flat like a pancake and the other is tall. Actually there is alot of difference, I'm just not all that techy to be able to describe it.

Here is a pic of a Type one.

Here is a Pancake motor.

I stole this off the web so I don't know how correct it is as far as parts that are on it, but it gives you an idea of the differences!

Are you looking at the bus on cl? It looks pretty good in the one pic they show.

I think, a big I think, lol, that with some minor modifications you can put a standard ( type 1) motor in a 73!

Yes the 73 for 1200 bux. If all the interior is there I think that would be a nice buy. Its at a tow shop. Not sure of the paper work situation. Might be a pain.

Well if it is at a tow yard, they will either have lein papers for you to take to DMV or they may have registered it themselves. If they have lien papers you need to ask how far out of date it is (as far as registration). You will have to pay all the back fees on that. Unless they junked it. Then it starts from scratch but has a salvaged title. I just mention the fees so you can have an idea of what to offer. Don't want to pay 1200. bucks and have 1200 in back fees!! Shocked

My bus came from a wrecking yard that people can pull parts off of the cars. Not Pic n Pull. Sad thing was, the PO had turned the title in for junk before they sold it to the wrecking yard. I have a salvaged title. I don't really care though. I don't plan on sellng it! Very Happy

Good luck and I hope you get it!!

At my hubby's work, the boss will junk a car so one doesn't have to pay the back fees. Then one has to get a brake and light inspection and a vin verification. So maybe 100 bucks or so depending on how much they charge for the brake and light. Some tow yards don't have a means of junking them though. So one would have to pay the back fees.
