gauges/idiot lights?

hey i was wondering what kind of gauges a person needs in their bug? i have idiot lights but i would like to know a little bit more than when it is to late if you know what i mean..... so i was going to invest in getting some gauges what is recommended and if there are specific kinds of gauges that only work in bugs

i understand there are different gauges but say an oil pressure gauge can i buy any oil pressure gauge or is there a specific one?

I would say oil pressure and oil temp gauges would be sufficient.

alright cool any other gauges i should think of? i have a 57 so the gas tank doesnt have a spot for a gas reader but i got decent eyes for that

also are they just general run of the mill gauges i can get at kragen or do they have to be specific kinds?

VDO or Auto Meter are my favs for auxiliary gauges.

Stack for the speedo, but they are pricey.

Oil Temp and Oil Pressure are great reference gauges. They are not necessarily accurate but they do alert you to changes in your system. So my oil temp may normally read 190, but the actual oil temp is 185, but if for some reason my gauge pops up to 220 I know something is up.

I also like a voltage meter, tells you what you alternator/generator is up to.

If you want to get crazy a cylinder head temp gauge is kind of cool as well as air mixture.

VDO Gauges:

They usually come in the set of three. As far as accuracy I prefer Stewart -Warner. They are pretty expensive and usually hard to find at most local parts houses.
