2 1/2" Dropped Spindles

Hello Everybody,
I have a question about dropped spindles. I attempted to drop the front of my 67 bug today and ran into a bit of a problem. Everything went fine till I went to tighten the tie rod end to the spindle and realized there was a lot of play. I did quite a bit of research before purchasing and never saw anything about changing out the tie rod ends. Has anyone had this problem? Maybe a solution? Thanks

Sounds like you may have to change over to the late model tie rod ends. I believe that the '66/'67 still used the early (small) rod ends.

Sounds like it needs late rod ends to me.

Dropped my 66 bug the same way. Had to change to '68 tie rod ends and wheel bearings.

Thanks guys for your help..Everywhere I looked it said nothing about changing tie tie rod ends and the wheel bearings..
