Brake issues. Empty
PostSubject: Brake issues.    Brake issues. EmptySun Oct 03, 2010 10:53 pm

I am having some issues with the brakes on my 70 Street Bug.

Basically, I had to replace the brake line that runs inside the car, next to the tunnel, a rubber line for the left front, and two wheel cylinders. Before I found these issues, the brake pedal had plenty of pressure, and everything seemed fine, except for some leaks, etc, so I replaced the afore mentioned parts.

Today I went to bleed the brakes, and I got the rears to bleed just fine, but the fronts were another issue. Opening up the bleeders, brake fluid would spray out as it should, but my dad (who was pumping the brakes), said the pedal wouldn't give when the bleeders were open. So that doesn't make any sense.

I drove the car, and only the rear brakes were working.

Anyone ever had any similar issues? I am thinking the master cylinder must be the culprit, but the fact that fluid was coming out doesn't quite add up to me.

Any help is much appreciated.

DISK OR DRUM?

I WAS JUST GETTING NOTHING BUT AIR ON THE FRONT CALIPERS ON THE FAST BACK. I PUMPED AND PUMPED, AND NOTICE JUST A LITTLE MOISTURE ON THE RIGHT FLEX LINE.....DAMN PIN HOLES. NEW FLEX LINES AND A COUPLE QUICK CYCLES THROUGH ON THE CALIPERS AND THEY WORK GREAT NOW.

AS FAR AS YOUR PROBLEM..........EITHER DRUMS OR DISK IT COULD BE THE FRONT CIRCUIT PLUNGER IN THE MASTER OR DEPENDING ON HOW LONG YOU HAD THE BLEEDERS OPEN THERE COULD BE CRUD IN THE LINES SOMEPLACE.

OLD SCHOOL IS THE WAY TO GO...GRAVITY BLEED.

OR IF YOU HAVE IT THE OLD HAND PUMP AT EACH WHEEL.

HOPE THIS HELPS

Got it all taken care of in the past week or so. Replaced the master, the other wheel cylinders, all brake shoes, front drums, and had the rear drums turned. Everything seems to work fine now.
