| So.. getting ready for my next purchase I started doing some research. If you don't already know I love the Euro Look (German Look). So have been online for 2 days researching what rims and tires I can fit under my bug and how much work it will take. For those that are not in the know on the German look... There is a lot of variations to this, but the main part is putting on aftermarket 17" rims and tires.. more of a street look. So looks like I will need a 4" narrowed beam... then redrilled drums / rotors.. and I will be able to fit 17x7 rims all the way around as long as they have 40mm offset or a little more. The price of the rims and tires are really no different than the price of 15" VW aftermarket stuff. If you have any extra info on this set up or problems.. reply. I am in information gathering mode. This is one thing I want to really do right away.. I always do a bunch of other stuff first and never get to the rims and tires... so rims and tires first! Then the turbo... then the rest. I am going to try to work backwards this time. | |

| I think the Euro look looks better on Curved Window Super Beetles, than the others. Maybe because of the curved look, (windshield, front apron, wheels), and not the clash of styles with the big, curvy wheels, and a straight window and front end. But, that's my two cents. | |

| Yeah... I see that a lot, I am just not a big super beetle fan.. never cared for the extra curves in the front.
But that's cool.. that's why VW's are so cool.. they can reflect each owner and each owners tast. I am just so tired of the stock rims out on the market. The new Iron Cross rims are not bad, but I would spend the same amount on those and tires as I would the 17's.

| It can look good if it's done right. Need to have the right wheels/tires. I've got a pic of a car on my computer at home (I'm at work now) that I love how it turned out. He chrome-plated some 17" Jetta wheels and it looks pretty bitchin'. I'll see if I can't post a pic of it tonight. | |

| If it is done tastefully it should look great. That's what makes every car unique. | |

| Stop looking I have a set of Porsche 928 wheels. We were going to put them on Lowla. Chrome manhole covers. Also know as flat dish. These look factory new. Tires are for fitment purposes well they have tread. The only problem you will go bankrupt buying spacers. Phone dials look.. notice 10 lug nuts.. We are running 7inch in front and had to get a set of 6in for the rear. I bought a bug just to get these wheels. If you are lucky these will cost you $1200 The Fuchs are so light. | |

| Acutally, I have thougt of doing phone dials.. I do like them. Maybe sandblast them and have them powdercoated all white or the new silver they have out.. what size are those dials? 16" or 17" | |

| My phone dials are 15. Each Porsche wheel has a different off set. The bug can run both Phone dials and Fuchs. The phone dials rub on the strut on the front of my 914. For a short time we had a set of Cookie cutters but the roundness of the phone dials look better on the bug. The Flat dishes are stunning but they are 16in and one hell of an offset.
I am running adapters and spacer on the rear and just adapters on the front. like I said before 7in rims on the front and 6 on the back. A 7inch rim on the back rub the trailing arms.
If you thought I had a lot of carburetors you should see our rim collection. I have a real nice set of 8 spokes 4 lug that are more of a Porsche 914 off set. They need a new home hint hint
This is the stuff dreams are made of until you buy it and they don't FIT.

| I agree.. pukes..I mean fuchs are played....LOL.
They look good on the right rig, but I have seen to many that don't fit. Every beetle has a personality and the rims make or break that.
Yeah, that is a good looking set up. I like that! That is exactly the look I am going after.
