| This thing has been for sale a long time and for a good reason. What is he claiming 40 miles to the gallon. I think he could be related to the clown I got my last junk from.

| was never on the table... I was more interested in his home made turbo and how he used a stock carb. Would be curious to see how that works. | |

| It has been done for years. They come up for sale or guys looking for parts on the Samba all the time. I think most use old Rayja turbos.
A Turbo education can be expensive. Read and ask questions. My first turbo I paid $10 or 20 at Bugorama it had a little shaft play, it was livable but the housing was cracked. So it is in my sons bedroom as ART.
Take Eric with you when you go buy one. They are on Craigslist all the time. And guys size matters. Try to find one from a 1.6ltr motor.
The one in Reno last weekend would of been a great start.

| That's a neat setup! He's right, he needs a high pressure fuel system. Anything over 4 lbs of boost, his fuel pump isn't delivering gas. I can believe 40mpg, but only 'cause the motor is running so lean that you can barbecue a cat on the cylinder heads after a mile! LOL!!! |

| Another 69 up in red bluff.. runs good, looks decent. I would love to go get it now, but have to wait for my tax money which is supposed to be direct deposited on the 11th. So hopefully it does not go anywhere. | |

| Now we know the clown lies. 1) 40ish mpg 2) 15 lbs of boost. Now that is a embellishment never in his wet dreams with a stock fuel pump.
If he is not fibbing about the internals you would have a great foundation. It is a decent year and may look ok if you lower it 4 inches in the front. A rear apron is about an hours job to drill out the spot welds.
On the other hand if you buy the newer bug you can trade something for my old school fiberglass fenders and have a retro rider. They need to stay in the club. I got them from My Day and I bet he got them from Eric who got them from Pete who got them from Smogman who stole them from the Low Class who got them from Dann when he gave him a ride in his Ghia. Makes sense to me.
