Daytona Party - Feb 20th ?????

So I am thinking of having a Daytona Party next Sunday.. It is the one race I won't miss... the rest... well?

So, would like to know who would be interested. If I get a few responses, we are on. Weather looks cool, but no rain for that day so far.
I was going to light up the Q and flame some steak and burgers.. will have beer and soda.. chips and salsa.

I have a 52" with HD.. 7.1 surround sound.. and plenty of seating. And if it is a little cold, we will stoke up the fire!

So strap the wife to the top of the car and drag the kids behind in a shopping cart and let's watch a race!!!


Let me know if you are going to make it so I know what to buy.

And, well, I would have to say normally a Gordan hater.. but he has not really done much the last couple of seasons, so not to worried about him anymore...hehehe

My guy is almost done.. Mark Martin.. last year (So we think). Hope he can go out with a win!

By the way, the race starts at 1pm.. so show between noon and 1pm?.... the race probably won't actually green flag till later.

Mark Martin is a great guy. I always liked Michael Waltrip. I haven't watched NASCAR in a few years though.

Michelle and I are in so add another couple.

What can we bring? Should we all bring some steaks or chicken so you don't have the whole burden yourself? No need to go poor feeding us all.

My wife is not either... although she likes Jeff Gordon and hates Tony Stewart.... so she does follow it a little when I watch it. Still, food, TV, people, all makes it fun anyway. 8-)

Should we bring any beer also or is that frown upon. I don't drink much but always have some handy so can bring some if needed. Think I have a few specialty brews left, pumpkin ale, some Sierra Nevada Christmas Ale, a few from Texas my Bro sent me, etc...

Oh yeah, beer is good! I was going to buy a couple of 12 packs.. but, yeah if you have some to bring, feel free. Be nice to mix it up.

Robin and I most of the time fall asleep during a race until a crash happens.. so race day is relax day..hehehehe.

But yes, friends, food and getting together is the main reason.

Well we are still on for Sunday. Weather looks to be okay.. chilly but no moisture.

Wife came up with a good idea.. we are going to do some pulled pork sandwiches and I will still Q up some ribs.

So far we have:

Pete and company
TJ and company
John and company
and a maybe for Cliff

I will pm you all with directions. I will park the truck and mini van on the street so guest can park in the parking area. I have a driveway that is a hill, but not to bad to back down.

Let me know if anyone else is joining and I can pick up some last minute goodies to accomodate!

Yup, we are still in. Going to hit town later today or tomorrow to find a dessert. Either a couple pies or a cake. Been in the mood for a pie lately so might go that direction. Store bought but I am sure will taste good. Our stove has been sucking lately and taking double the time to bake stuff so we need to have it looked at. I think a element has went out or something.

Was stoked that my racer, Little E was at Pole but now he goes ALL THE WAY BACK TO THE REAR since he toasted his car. Argh! hehehe

Just did a double check.. glad I did.

The race our time starts at 9am... but the first couple of hours is the festivities and such. So if you want to show up between 11 and 12 you will catch most of it.

If you are up to coming over early to watch everything, that is cool with me also...

It is on Fox HD, so East Coast was 1pm.. but over here for whatever reason they are starting it at 9am.

Race should be over around 2pm according to thier guide.

Will be over between 11 and 11:30 or so with some micro-brews and a nice double layer chocolate cake.

Time to watch some racing, chowing down, and yapping with others.
