Oil cooler location Empty
PostSubject: Oil cooler location   Oil cooler location EmptyTue Mar 08, 2011 7:42 pm

Quick I need this by tomorrow. Where are you guys running you external oil coolers. And no it wont be in the engine compartment. I am running a dog house (Heidi House) it is full flow system. And now it will have a relocated oil filter, the old filter hit the header.

I am so close I can almost smell it.

Dumped $150.00 on fittings, The hose is left over from the Porsche project.

Thanks

IVE SEEN SEVERAL RUN FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT OUT TO UNDER THE LEFT REAR FENDER NEAR THE BUMPER MOUNTS BEFORE. NOT SURE WHERE ELSE TO PUT IT THAT WOULD BE FAIRLY ACCESSIBLE OTHER THAN THAT.

Right now I am planning on running the hoses under the 3/4 bank, it will make sense when you see it and it should be clean and safe. I cannot run bottom tin due to the j tubes. They are tucked in towards the motor more. So I will make a mount under the pushrod tubes using the two screw holes on the side of the block. That is today and now not tomorrow.

More more cheers cheers cheers cheers

A turbo heats oil just like that. I am going to run a oil cooler on the return oil from the turbo to the motor. I am running an oil pump and should help a lot. Plus better routing.

Shocked

I was just kidding Dave. I think I have seen them inside the fender well and under the package tray.

It would be a whole lot easier smack dab in the back where the muffler was. Its not my first choice but the more I look at the better I like it.

Thats today

If I'm not too late, you want to put it somewhere flooded with cool air. Putting it somewhere hot or that's being blasted with hot air from the engine is counter-productive. Inner fender, and be sure to hose it off now and then.

That's hard to do when you are driving though.

If you're thinking about running a 'tail' without a deck lid, then put in on the underside of the spoiler....
