Going to Portland....if that helps anybody here.

Like it says, I'm leaving to go to Portland after I hit the Ranch Run tomorrow. I just wanted to check as I didn't know....maybe somebody has something (small) they needed to be picked up and brought back. I'm going to be fairly bored and I'll have plenty of time on my hands. I would be happy to pick something up for somebody.

Just let me know. Now's the time to hit Portland's Craigslist.

Really though, have a safe trip and you and the family have a good time.

If you get bored just start going to the junk yards to look for VW treasures.

By the way going to Portland helps me tremendously. The further away you are the cleaner the air is.

I wonder it the big bug whale tail is still available. That thing was super sick. What are you driving?

I found a couple of cool spots. One is an all-indoor wrecking yard. Quite a site. I picked up a '63 Ivory-knobbed Saphire I radio, the rear seat support bracket and a complete original shifter. I got the hole pile for $100. I was pretty tickled. I'm going to look at a pair of front seats tomorrow. I'm going to have to tie them to the roof of the wife's Expedition. She's so happy about it!!

And the hunt continues.

WOW!! Look at that!

I ended up checking that place out. They had a couple pairs of front buckets but Jeez-o-weez.....they wanted a shit-ton for 'em. The ol' boy behind the counter was kinda short with patience and on customer service. I ended up walking out of there without spending a dime. Pretty cool place though. The indoor place I went to was called Avery's Aircooled out of Woodland, WA. Staff was very friendly and wanted to b.s. Volkswagens and their prices were very reasonable.

I found a bought my buckets from a guy on Craigslist while I was up here. Really cherry set with some of the best springs/frames I've seen. Got the pair of 'em for $100. I'm really stoked. I've just gotta tie em to the roof of the wife's Expedtion.

You never know, walking is the best thing to do. Portland is such a sandrail place I bet they lots of left over parts

How I miss Oregon.


You could cut across 10 from Portland to Sand Lake and then down 101 through the dunes from Florence to Coos Bay. Lots of cool stuff through there.

There used to be an awesome sandrail shop near the Umpqua dunes like near a marina...

Are you from Oregon? I moved to Sac from PDX.

No I am not from Oregon, but I love the coastal sand.

I have to clarify that as inland sand dunes while still alot of fun are just not the same experience.

I have spent a fair amount of time up and down the Oregon coastline.

Since it is pretty tough out there these days, most of my sand toys just sit...

Yes, as long as it will fit on the roof of the wife's Expedition along with the seats for my '63. Hopefully there's a way to tie it down.
