| I looked at it. It is a Ghia so you really can not put a price on it. But I think I would have to live in it if I brought it home before finishing the '73. | |

| Matt, when you say you looked at it, are you saying you've seen it in person? If so, what's the scoop on it? | |

| I'd buy it for $1500! Not bad if it's not all rusted at the bottom. | |

| Update. We're going to look at this, well, Greg is, and see what we can do about getting it into the fold. It's too good to pass up if it's not a low end rust bucket. | |

| Correction - Dann's a big (insert bad word here) and flaked on me. I'll be looking at this one myself. | |

| I'm sleeping on this one. She's a little rough around the edges. But, it's a '62 Ghia....
I'll make my decision in the morning.

| Sorry for the delay, work heated up and I have been running for the past two days.
I did look at it and it is a little rougher than the picture shows.
The body is fairly rough.
A little more body work than I was hoping for or wanted to tackle at this time, and some of the 'smaller' pieces are missing. Which poses an additional cost.
It is a Ghia, but IMO the value is in the body, everything else is fairly easy to get a hold of.
Maybe in the fall, after the '73 is done...

| Yeah, that's what I felt too. I'm kinda thinking I'm going to pass on this one. He did tell me he would take $1000 for it though (if anyone else is interested).
Body's rough but $1000 for a running '62 Ghia isn't bad.

| Me me me!
Greg, I will front the money for it. We could body fill that, paint, and flip next spring. The missing bits are easy Samba finds. This gets you in a VW immediately.

| It's just that it's such a pile of dung. I'd be embarrased to cruise up in that thing. Did you get that email I sent you? Did you see the additional pics? | |

| Well so I'm off in 15 minutes and I'm going to go make this guy (what I feel) is a ridiculous offer that I'd be surprised if he grabbed onto. But, again, I'll keep ya posted..... | |

| Ok, so I'm officially out now. I went over there and looked at it again. I offered him $700 with the intention of settling somewhere around the $800-$900 range. He said "Absolutely not. I wont take anything less than $1000." I thanked him and drove home care-free and with a full wallet. He couldn't get the battery charged up so he couldn't get it started. It's missing many little pieces (door latches, fuel guage, headlight trim rings, etc) but it's also got some pretty horendous body damage, some lower body rust and the deck lid is on another Ghia of his and that's where it's staying. It just didn't make much sense to me. He said he'll have no problem selling it at Bugorama next month. I'm sure we'll all see it there. | |

| Bummer. Wish it would have worked out for you.
I had a similar experience. I don't think he will sell it for $1000 at Bug-O-Rama either if the other Ghias in the area for sale show up.
But that is my opinion. If it was a few years earlier than a '62, I might be a little more inclined.
There will be others. I think you made a smart move. Hang tight.

| Thanks bro. For anyone listening...I'm still looking for a '56-'61 Bug in running condition or close to. I would prefer a ragtop, but I'm open to anything. I just want an earlier car so I can rock the Snowflakes. | |
