I took off the smog thing that was bolted between the carb and intake. Capped the hole .
Took it for a test drive and it ran really good.
Can you tell me why the heat tubes are on the intake?

Yeah, that spacer can get cracked allowing a vacuum leak! SWEET!

The heater tubes from the exhaust? It helps atomize the gas better by warming up the intake tube. That's why dual carbs don't have them, they are close to the heads so they get hot already.
