| For the rear?
You should not need one for the front | |

| tranny in or out?
If it is real stuck this is what I did.
Unbolt the Axel tube from the side cover of the transmission. Remove everything, backing plate, shocks, torsion bars, bearing cap. Now you pull the tube off with the bearing intact. You can drive the bearing out.
I tried everything else and this is the only thing that worked. You will still need a VW crank gear puller. I will post pic later of what to do to the puller.
You may have to pull the motor and unbolt the transmission rear mount to do this.
Good luck | |

| The motor and trans are out of the car already. If you could post pictures, that would be awesome. | |

| This is the tool I used. Since you trans is out of the car this will be so easy. Tool How to modify the tool to pull the axle Screw the puller in where the bearing caps bolt. And protect the axle end and gently apply pressure. Once the axle tube is off knock out the bearing from the tube. This was the worst nightmare we had building our bug. Do you work? You live in North Highlands right. Next weekend I have a friend coming to my house who lives real close to you. Rio Linda/North Highlands area. You can pick it up from her house if you still need it.
