This is where the heater cables come out in the cab.

The Velvet Thread - my '66 21-window bus project - Page 7 0218121211a

New cables in (remember Mateo and Ray took hours removing the bits of cables and rust).

Cable coming out in the back.

Cleaned up and ready to go. I will have heat for the first time this winter (since Hugo doesn't have heater boxes). At least I will as soon as I get the gigantic hole in the roof filled with a sunroof... Smile

Spring plates and covers on, we'll see where she sits.

Rebuilt 3.88 Freeway Flyer trans from Robert Skinner (www.skinnerclassics.com). We kept the nose cone and the end caps off the OG one.

Ray is threading all RGB holes for longer bolts than stock. If you read back in this thread, Velvet's bolts were all shearing off and a PO had welded the RGB spring plates, it was a mess. Stronger is best. Smile

The bolt on top is what we will be using.

Almost time to get the tranny in!

Gotta get more of these longer bolts. Then mount the backing plates, brakes, wheels, etc. Can't wait to see this bus back on the ground and see the new stance.

Got boots or the shift tube, so now the birdies will say clean. There is one boot on each end of the shift tube.

I will have heat. Very Happy

Motor's in!

The Velvet Thread - my '66 21-window bus project - Page 7 0223121719

This motor had an old school dual exhaust on Hugo, but it won't fit under Velvet's bumper. So, we will use the stinger for now, I am out of money....

Still need to hook up the 96 pass oil cooler, put the longer bolts into the spring plates when they come in, rejet the carbs, odds and ends. Hoping she'll be rolling this weekend. cheers

Heater hoses on:

The Velvet Thread - my '66 21-window bus project - Page 7 0224121143

Spring plate bolts in. They are longer and are 10.9, which is the highest grade in a hex-head bolt. These bolts have a larger footprint at the mating surface which makes them stay tight.

I have all 5 of her hubcaps. But when Les Schwab washed and powder coated the rims, several of the rusty clips came off. So now we have to replace some clips on each rim to put the caps back on.... It's on the list. Smile

lol!

Not their fault though. It was the rust's fault. I love that they did cleaned and powder coated them for only $30 a wheel! Smile
