| I put the shelf back in today and you can see a gap. Hubby wants to try something this weekend to add a piece in. We also went to DMV today to put the bus in my name. I was hoping to do a Title Only for now, but because the PO junked it , I have to get a brake and light inspection and a vin verification. The verification is no big deal because we know cops that will come do it right at our house, but the brake and light is a different story. Yah, it's a bummer she junked it, but I really don't care about a salvage title. I know it cuts the value down, but I don't plan on selling, and even if I did, I would still probably come out ahead! So now I am on it. I switched my attention from the insides to the motor. I am kind of proud of myself because I did it pretty much by myself. Hubby only had to come help get the starter/motor bolt out. I just couldn't get it to budge. When he was doing it, it slipped back and started to just spin, so he wanted me to climb underneath and hold it. I started under and he told me it was the one on top of the starter. I started back out! LOL Um, there are spiders up there!!!! NO WAY! I don't do spiders. LOL He managed to get it out with out me holding it. LOL It had about 8 or so gallons of turpentine for gas in it. I learned an important lesson today. Always where rubber gloves when working with gas. I doesn't wash off and the smell of bad gas just lingers on your hands! Yuck. LOL Heres a pic of the gap in the headliner. No motor!!! Oh, and the gas line was so bad that when I tried to crimp it with vise grips, it just crumbled. So I kind of made a mess! LOL There were still more shells and rat droppings behind the shroud, but I couldn't see any inside of it! I will still pull it all apart and clean it. More shells. Tomorrow I want to pressure wash the motor, then once it dries I can start tearing it apart, clean, paint, and put back together!! | |

| Yah, spiders are about the only thing I don't deal with. I mean I will walk and have hubby kill them. Either that or I have to have a long stick! LOL You never know when one of those things may jump on you! LOL Just a quick update. Not really anything exciting, but I wanted show what I found under the generator (or alternator, don't remember which to call it. lol). First of all, as predicted, when I pulled the shroud I found this. This is what was under the gen. Anyone recognize it? I'm thinking that at one time the gen got changed or had to be removed for something and the mechanic working on it, put that sticker in there. My hubby used to do that with his business card stickers. If you have a bug, go check the inside of your glove box door to see if there is a Pieces and Parts sticker there! Anyway that is what a figured happened here. I got the motor degreased, even though it was more rat poo and dirt. LOL I will let that dry and then work on stripping the tin off and cleaning it better then paint it. Then of course put it all back together. | |

| No, I didn't, but I didn't spray into it. It needs to come off and be cleaned up. Gas was like terpentine. That and the oll needs to be replaces, haeads adjusted, and so on. So the motor is going to get a good once over. What little spray got into it, won't hurt anything!! OH, choke was closed too so, that helped keep what water that did splash up, out! | |

Is this a husband and wife project or just a wife? Well, kind of a 95% Wife and 5% husband project! I want to do most of the work on it. I just need help on stuck nuts and bolts, and doing any thing that would take more then 2 hands!

| As far as the color scheme, it is pretty plain for this project! LOL Just went with flat black on everything accept the generator, carb, fuel pump, and distributer. I would have probably done the purple and black theme again, (just because I still have plenty of purple paint) but I didn't want to strip this motor down as far as I did the other motor. I was able to clean up all the rat crap even with the tins on. So I left the manifold on this time. If it ain't broke, don't fix it! LOL I will take pics later. I just got done painting the shroud and some misc. stuff. I will be putting it together tonight, I think? Depends on how tired I am. LOL I hate my work schedule! LOL I do a lot of shopping around on the internet. I have looked at Bus depots site, just never ordered anything from them, yet! LOL I do price comparisons, then check with Bugformance to see what they are charging. For the most part, it is a bit cheaper to get it at Bugformance. Even though they may be higher on the price, you don't have to pay shipping! Specially when I live 3 blocks away! | |

| Couldn't tell you as far as quality. Never bought anything from Bus Depot. Bugformance basically deals with stock german stuff. Although I think you can get aftermarket there too. | |

| 10 years ago Bus depot was buying containers from Germany. Some came out of a warehouse in the bay area.
Most aftermarket SOME aftermarket stuff is just plane old junk.

Nah, I'm just going to use my old ones. I painted them purple. I actually had some new ones left from when I did the bug, but of course I can't find them now! Lol the old ones will work fine! Thanks for the offer though.
