I just read the latest updates from earlier:

Matt, a red flashlight? Really?

Kinndra and Cliff, a new bug in the group??? Are you two expecting?

Here's Jeff in Velvet's (broken) rear view mirror. Too cute with the splitty windshield post behind the mirror. Have I said how much I love my bus? Oh, and I sold Hugo's old seats that are in the picture tonight!



And Starbucks. Really there were lots more cars, but the lot was so small, I couldn't back up further to get them all in one picture.



Velvet lost 3rd gear again. This time for good. Sheared completely. The bushing's shot and she was a trooper and barely got us there and back. It was a struggle to get 1st, sometimes had to start out in 2nd, no 3rd, and on the trip home 4th was grinding too. I think she's parked in the breezeway until Hugo's done and Ray can start her tranny (after Mateo, Sandy, and Cat, and....). She's right outside my backdoor and about 10' from my bed, so I think I'll struggle through the wait okay.

Thanks for taking pics Dawn. I wish I could've been there for the cruise into the swap.

Sorry I didn't get more Greg. Lots of other people were taking pics, I hope they upload them!

Mike, thanks for getting that one! And the interior was original by the looks of it. A true museum relic, I hope he never changes a thing.

A true survivor car. unrestored unmodified and all original.

If anyone is trying to come up with any Christmas ideas for me.......I'd take one of those.......

Where to begin with such a fun filled evening. Well first things first:

And it is maginetic (spelled that way on purpose) in case you didn't catch that.

PLUS, it kind of looks like a light saber, I'm not sayin' anything but that is kind of cool.

So to pick up from my earlier posts. Jenn and I went off to lunch around 1:00pm and then off to the Depot to look for the incredible maginetic light saber flashlight.

We were meeting Jeff and Cliff around 3:00pm before heading to Ray's. Well let's just say we were walking out of the Depot at about 2:05pm. Why do thing always take NO time when you are not in a hurry?

Luckily the illusive Jeff happened to be early too. And Cliff was not far behind and we made our way to Ray's a little early.

Cat showed up but I missed the photo op and we all headed down 80 to Starbucks.

So at Starbucks things got a little crowded.





We hooked up with SacTown and this is where the fun started for me.

May's starter relay blue a fuse. I don't know why she does this, it's a new thing as of late. Ray told me why, but I was only half listening. I'll have have the refresher course when he has some free time. I did catch the part about it not being original and not needed.

So I McGyvered it with a paper clip and away we went...

Now is when thing got real interesting.

So I had never been to TRP's shop before and I was a little frazzled from the fuse indecent at Starbucks.

I am driving down Fair Oaks Blvd and I see a dude in a green and black TRP shirt waving people over. I look over my shoulder, start to turn and hear the sickening sound of screeching of tires behind me and felt the tap.

There is a freeway off ramp right next to TRP that you have to merge into which I discovered after the fact.

So we pull over and asses the damage...



I was sick and near tears. But then the voices in my head stated speaking to me. "There are no creases, it is not that bad."

I raised the deck lid and spoke a few words to the VW gods. I reached in and felt around for the high point. I spoke a few more kind words to May and gave a SHOVE.

Wallah!!! Relief.



Amazing, just a little trace of white paint left and a little bump which I rubbed out this morning.

Just proves my point, Ghias are amazing and defy the laws of physics.

Things calmed down for me after this and it turned out to be a really fun night. Thanks everyone.

I got a little sick myself when I saw that May had been actually HIT. I was horrified, but then shocked when I got Velvet parked and came over and the dent was somehow gone. She has the magical powers to heal herself? No, she has a loving partner that helped her heal herself. Yeah, that's it. You two are a pair.

And your wife is a compliment to the package, I really enjoyed Jenn!

A great time was had by all.

As much as I wanted to be there I had some more pressing issues(Santa Cruz girls)

Matt I was shocked when I saw that picture. After all the time and money you've put into May, but the VW gods were looking over you! How is she doing with all the new upgrades?

Great story and great pictures Matt. I'm glad everything worked out. That could've been much worse!

I completely missed the magic Ghia situation - Glad it worked out okay and no one was seriously hurt.

Looks and sounds like it was a great event even with the bumps and bruises.

It was a lot of fun and thanks to Greg I acquired some much needed stuff. Thanks Greg.

Oh yea, If you are looking for OG tin, TRP seems to have it...

Yeah, the prices seemed very reasonable!
