Subject: 71 Super Beetle brakes Fri Oct 21, 2011 10:25 pm
I am going to a friends house tomorrow to help him with a brake problem on his bug. He told me the brakes always feel tight and the front drums are getting really hot. I am assuming that it is either a bad return spring or his brakes are out of adjustment. I have never owned a VW built after 1966. Is there anything else I should watch out for?

You will also need to make sure the fluid is returning to the reservoir. The rubber lines will break down over time and clog. Remove the rubber line and verify that it is not obstructed.
