68 Bug Hood attachment.

Hey all, I have two nasty gashes on my 68 body where the hood hindges are hitting. They hit because the spring stops have been removed. I have new springs for it. The springs/rods attach to the hindge links at the bend, But where does the other end attach? I cannot find where they attach to the body. The only bolts that I can feel are the fender mounting bolts. Am I missing hardware or is this a short between the headset??? Breck

It looked to me that the doohicky was opposed to disasembly of the thingy bopper

There should be a little "L" shaped bracket with a grooved pin on each fender-well. Look at the inner fender-wells about 4" behind the gas tank. If there's no brackets, see if you can find a couple torn holes where the spot welds were torn out.
