I know none of them are cheap anymore and I have the wood slat one from years ago. I have to say I think the all metal ones have an advantage over the wood slat one. The metal one wont warp and need to be refinshed like the wood one and at that price its a great deal in my opinion.

Avoid wooden slats running the width of the car. They'll howl like crazy on the road.

My wood slat rack does howl a lot but it also covers up all the worn and broken parts spinning around in my engine. If I cant hear it there is no problem...
