| My sons 64 is getting ready to eat the #3 exhaust valve. Its a clacking like crazy. I have done the valves four times all and still it persists looks like I am headed down this road like it or not. To make matters worse my son is rapidly loosing interest in a car that he can never drive. ( I don't blame him on that fact, at his age I would be pissed as well) We are 2k into this rig and after replacing the clutch fork, plate, pressure plate and throw out bearing last weekend now this new problem is here. And to top it off I know that the tranny is suspect as well. So I am looking for a head that can be slapped on while I have the original rebuilt. | |

| Single port heads Lonny. I think all you had were dual port, but I could be wrong. | |

| I have a set of 40hp heads new in the box. They are flycut and have valves w/springs.
I think they are ready to bolt on and go.
Let me know if you are interested...

| Not all 40 HP heads are the same. Some need long studs, some need short.
The #3 exhaust is the first to go if the valve adjustments aren't done religiously. It's the reason they changed to the doghouse style fan shroud. Not all fan shrouds are "doghouses."

| These are 'late' 40hp heads, they have the square bosses for the rockers to sit on.
I think they are short studs in that they do not go through the heads. I think that may be what you are referring to.
