help with ghia door rubber seal

OK i have a 66 ghia cpe and am installing the weather strip/rubber and at the top of the door jam i am to install the ball on the end of the strip/rubber. how the hell am i to get the ball(large) in the hole (small). what have you folks done?

It seems to defy the laws of physics doesn't it?

You can use dish soap or a non-petroleum based lube like KY. Careful not to use anything that will deteriorate rubber.

I found a center punch can be helpful if used carefully, one that is not too sharp.

I read of people trimming the ball or cutting a slice to cut the ball into two parts and inserting each half individually.

I left mine in the sun, used some soap and a lot of foul language and was able to stuff it in there.

I squeezed the ball (here we go again), stuffed the narrow part in the hole and shoved. I tried to work both sides with the center punch while maintaining pressure.

It is one of those things when you are done with it you take a step back, scratch your head and wonder what engineer thought this up, and then shrug as you realize you still have the other side to do.
