| I posted on you other request. We are small so why dont you delete the request in classified.
We need more information Front /rear if it is the rear is the transmission still in the car. I have pulled a rear one that just would not go with a special VW puller for removing gears off the crank.
I made the tool that is in the book or on the net. Two bolts cut off the head slot and pull the bearing did not work for me.
More information please

| Wait you had it apart right
Did you try the homemade puller
You need a flat bar with two holes in it about the same distance as the outer bearing
Cut the heads off long bolts grind a notch in the opposite end of the threads
place inside the race and gently pull by tightening the nuts
I will look for my homemade version and show you

| you may not be missing much. I mostly get brakes, last 30,000 so for $20-30 I get lifetime brakes. They just dont last but they also dont tear up the rotors to bad.
They will loan you tools. Kragen tool program was a joke.

| Try this to pull the bearing. You can do this because the tranny is out of the car. And I am guessing the bearings are fresh not rusted in place. Make sure the axle is clean of any rust or buildup. Take some fine sand paper or emery cloth and polish the axle shaft. This will help save the bearing
1) unbolt the bearing holder 4 bolts 2) unbolt the side plated holding the axle to the transmission. 10-12 13mm nuts double check you have all of them 3) you can leave the brake backing plates on the axle 4) Take a piece of 2x4 and a decent weighted hammer and gently but firmly hit the wood that is touching say the shock mounts or any other cast piece. You axle tube should come off with the bearing. The axle should stay in place.
This should not harm the bearing

| I've heard of it done this way before. I think the only reason it isn't a more common approach is because you have to take more stuff apart. But in this case, with his trans already out, I think it's a no-brainer. This is exactly how I'd do it. | |
