| Since the wife had to work and I had the day off.. got to work on the bug some Got the new air cleaners on that I bought yesterday: what a pretty shade of red...LOL (All they had) But, when I was doing that, I brushed up against the dual carb linkage and realized one was loose.. so got that tighten back down and adjusted...WOW What a difference driving it. It is not surging any more.. here I thought I had another issue with it.. always felt like it was surging when holding a steady speed. But between the new air cleaners and the linkage fix... crisp acceleration, steady smooth driving down the freeway and overall just a pleasant driving experience. Always makes me laugh when it is something small! (and glad) Then on to the next small project: Got the 62 - 67 tail lights sanded down and primerd. I found some new seals for these yesterday so got them all assembled and working! Got rid of those awful round blinker lights. I now have to do some body work, but I like the way the lights look a whole bunch better! So there you go Jimmy.. a dangling carrot for you.. I put the old lights in a bag with your name on it for when you get it driving! Thanks Dann for these. Then I just dinked around on it all day.. was nice. Now to get to work on that new beam.. can't wait to get that in the car. Need to make a trip over to Eric's after work on day this week and grab the torsion bars and tie rods.. might be ready to put it in on Tech Day??????? (fingers crossed) | |

| The oil traps the dirt from going into the motor. We use a K&N oil spray. Google reusable cotton air filter element. Something like that and maybe you can get other options on the oiling. | |

| I have a TON of K&N filter oil. Quads in the sand: Soak the filters at night, oil them in them in the morning. Daily routine when in the sand. I do May's filters when I change the oil. One of the more overlooked tasks when running a cotton or foam filter instead of paper. If they were wrapped in plastic, they should be sticky and pre-oiled. If the are not sticky, they may need oil. I can drop some off somewhere this week if you need it. | |

| @ Eric.. Thanks!
@ Jimmy.. When you can drive your bug they are yours....LOL. just a little motivation. When ever we know we will be meeting up next. I will throw them in the car. They will look a lot better on your bug than mine.

| Air filters:
I just thought of this.
When I clean my K&N filters, they turn white from washing the old oil from the filter.
Then when I spray the new oil on the filter, then turn the reddish color again.
The oil is what gives the filter its red color.
Anyways, if they are K&N filters, the fact that they are red means they are oiled...
I would still check yo see if they are sticky...

| You should oil them. If you don't have K&N oil you can brush clean 30W on them as an alternative. | |

| I have always used Simple Green to clean them. Dawn is a good idea Dave. Screw it, just throw them in the dishwasher. | |
