How to spend $1000 in one day

So, the big bad check engine light came on again last week, about two weeks or so after the LT incident. Same two codes again. Took it back to Black Forest and the first code ended up being a shot plug wire on cylinder 2. The second code was for part of the fuel evap system and it turned out to be a shot hose coming of the leak detection pump and a bad purge valve. After all was said and done the parts only ended up being about $300. The rest was all labor - GRRRRRR!!!!! I should have been a mechanic! It's really hard to start an air-cooled toy fund when the u-boat is sucking up all the (very) spare cash.

Maintaining New Beetles is not cheap. VW Shops want a mint it seems. Everyone needs to make money but sometimes it seems excessive. Sorry to hear things are costing you more $$.

I have a VAG/Com for your car. I just sits in my garage. I can check codes all day long for you. And with some help from Matteo we may be able to go mobile. My 486 laptop died so I am using a real old desktop. As long as the computer fires up I can check any members OBD2 car. Leftover Vanagon stuff.

So if anyone has a OB2 VW with codes I can tell you what is going on and you can make informed decisions. It has been over three years or so since I have fired up the computer. I may still work.
