are 67 and 71 rear fenders, and doors interchangable?

well the title says it all! Can I put 1967 rear fenders on my 1971 standard beetle?

I am months expert by any means but I believe that 67 fenders are a one year only deal and people not work.

If you look at early fenders and 68 and later fenders the way the bumpers mount is not the same. And 67 has the later head light style but early bumper. So it would mount up but thats about it. Now on my old 71 I thought the doors with one piece windows came off a 67 but it may have been a 68 been a long time ago and I dont remember. Maybe try doing a search in the 68 and latter bug forum on the samba and see what comes up.

This is VW 101. 1967s are chock full of unique parts.
The rear fenders should fit, but as he said, the bumper mounts will be different.

It's a gamble about the doors. I am pretty sure they're unique but not sure what it was about them. Could be something insignificant, like a handle.

I was looking at a picture of my 71 and it does look like a 67 door but im pretty sure none of the trim matches up and the indent for the handle is not the same as 71 so you would need both doors . I removed all the trim on the 71 so it didnt matter.

Well, you wouldn't have to have them both. Few people will run from side to side to make sure the handles are the same

Here's the thing. You're no worse off if you're getting them for a good price and they don't work out. 1967 parts are desirable and people with 1967s who want them correct will pay a premium price for them. You can always list them on The Samba for sale and someone will buy them and pay good money for them.

The doors might fit, but I believe you'll have a problem with the latch. As stated earlier, the '67 doors are one year only--you'll probably have to modify the entire handle/lock mechanism.
