| Greetings All! So, how embarrassing for the lone water-pumper to be the one with the problems on Saturday Made it home fine, which ticks me because I'm sure we could have continued on the rest of the run. Car continued to run like it was fuel-starved until we got down just below the 80/20 cut/off and then the car ran fine. Trust me to have a car that gets altitude sickness Took him back to the Black Forest in Auburn on my way into work this morning and hopefully it will just be something like a faulty sensor. An air-cooled is looking mighty desireable . . . Looking forward to the next adventure. | |

| Let's start a pool. I bet it is either an O2 sensor OR a dirty air filter. OR it could be something totally different. Glad everything worked out OK though and you made back down the hill, that is the most important part! P.S. (it could be rust yaknow, water pumpers rust from the inside like a submarine) KIDDING!!!, well not really, but I had to say it! | |

| IM THINKING MAP/MAF IF IT SEEMED FUEL STARVED TILL YOU GOT BACK DOWN CLOSE TO YOUR NORMAL BERIMETRIC PREASURE AREA. JUST AN OFF THE TOP OF MY HEAD DEAL. HAVING IT CHECKED BACK DOWN HERE THEY MAY NOT FIND ANYTHING IF THAT IS THE CASE. | |

| OK, I change mine to what Cliff said!!!
Can I do that?
That is what I really meant to say anyway, really, I was just testing you guys.
Unless of course I am right, then I stick with my original answer.

| Well, I hate to inform all of you that you're all wrong. The comp threw two codes. One was a #2 cylinder misfire and the other was to do with the fuel evap system. I talked to Ray Vallero and he immediately said it sounded like I had some water in a cylinder from bad gas. I have never put high octane (91) in the UFO before, always 87. I don't know why I did that. Anyway, the mechanic swapped the coil pack to see if it continues to be a problem - no big deal there - and reset the comp. I'm relly thinking once all that gas is out everything will be back to normal. That is so funny about the submarine comment. When I first got the car and was thinkling of what to put on the plate, I almost went with U BOAT | |

| You must have just gotten a bad load of fuel. At least it wasn't major. | |

| Actually I have heard of that... duh?? forgot to tell you to take the gas cap off. Sometimes the pressure build up from the altitude change can do that. It does not on our old cars since they are not air tight, but newer cars can.
Fords are real popular for check engine lights because of the gas caps.
Plus if the fuel system is not pressurized correctly, it will be fuel starved.

| YAY! Actually I win!
Because I said "OR it could be something totally different"
So see I was corretomundo.
Well, anyway, glad it looks to be like something relatively simple.

| Tell me about it! My Dad and I have both said that if anything were to happen and we had to get another car, it's going to be pre-74. No more electronics, smog, etc. Actually, I would really like to acquire another ac beetle one day when I actually have funds for another toy. | |
