1970 Volkswagen Bug

1600 Dual port rebuilt in December 2011. Case was machined by Jansen Interprises. New parts include: crank, rods, pistons, cylinders, cylinder heads, Bugpack solid shaft rockers, cam, timing set, oil pump, Bugpack billet lifters, push rods, JayCee red anodized push rod tubes, Bugpack black anodized degree pulley. Also replaced were the spark plugs, plug wires, distrubutor cap, fuel lines. Also had the oil cooler replaced with a newer one. It has a 009 distributor with a Compu-fire electronic ignition. It has dual carbs, Kadron 40/44s with air cleaners and linkage. It has a newer Bugpack header with J-tubes and a Bugpack muffler.

Transmission is a 4 speed manual. Works fine, but sometimes it will grind into 3rd. It has an original Hurst trigger shifter. New Kennedy 1700# pressure plate and solid clutch disk, replaced in January 2012.

Frontend was fully rebuilt in February 2011. Included were new bushings, balljoints, tie rods, tie rod ends, steering dampner, and 2 inch drop spindles. Rides very smooth.

Brakes were redone in October 2010. New front and rear brake shoes, wheel cylinders, master cylinder, front rubber lines, hard line from master to rear of car, and front brake drums. The rear drums were turned at this time as well.

Interior is decent. There is no carpet, I live in the country, and carpet gets dirty easily, so instead I did a roll on truck bedliner on the floor of the car. Looks very good, and is easy to clean. There is black carpet in the rear cargo area. Headliner is pretty good, there are a couple holes. Doorpanels are all good. Seats were rebuilt in June 2011 with new foam, but the original covers were reused, so it may need new ones, they have some tears. It has later model (74) retractable seat belts for the front, but doesn't have any rear seatbelts. Formula steering wheel. Sony stereo, 6.5 kenwood speakers in the doors, 6x9s with boxes in the rear cargo area. Padded dash has been removed and the dash has been filled, smoothed, and painted body color with black accents. Original Hurst shifter. Needs a turn signal switch and headlight switch, headlight switch has been bypassed for the lights to work, but there are currently no working turn signals.

The exterior was painted in July 2011. It's a garage paintjob so it's by no means perfect, but it's definitly a 10 footer. The body is 99% straight, has picked up a couple paint chips and dents since it was painted. During bodywork, all the trim was removed and the holes were filled. Front turn signals were removed from the fenders and aftermarket lights installed on the bumper but the lights still need to be wired up. Fenders were smoothed over. Tinted black taillight lenses. After paint, new window gaskets, bumper-to-body gaskets, fender beading, and black sport mirrors were installed. Allt he glass is good, and has popout rear windows. No rust anywhere.

Rims are stock with hubcaps, painted black. Good tires.

Clean title, currently registered and insured. It has been my daily driver since October 2010, and it gets compliments all the time.

I have drag raced it, it runs low 19s, and has won a couple races in the local VW class.

The engine rebuild and frontend work was done by a reputable VW mechanic, and the rest of the work was done by me.

$3500
