| After leaving work and the Ford van broke down, I got back home around 7, unhooked the trailer from the van, hooked it to my truck, (I would have taken the truck anyway, but it's not equipped for electric trailer brakes), threw some magnetic lights on the trailer so it would at least have lights, and got to his house around 8:30, and noticed on of my magnetic lights was gone, and the other wasn't working either. After perusing the car for a while, I decided I wanted it. Then we couldn't get it on the trailer because the right front wheel was locked up, and the rears barely rolled. Slowly but surely it went on the trailer. Then I took off, and couldn't find any gas stations that had room for a trailer. Got back on 80, took an exit, got into a detour, and ended up back in Lincoln. Found a Shell. Took some pics. Little blurry. | |

| Today I got the wheels unstuck. Rusty drums, but they cleaned up nicely. | |

| The Plan. This car I will be fixing up, pretty much to the bare minimum I can. The floors are rusty, but that's about all it needs other than mainenance. The motor turns freely, and there's no debris in the oil. I believe that if I rebuild the carb, and run new fuel lines, and make sure the electrical is good, and do a tune-up, I think it will fire up. Will it run good? Hard to say. But this car will be the replacment for the 74 Standard I had. It was all stock, and a definite fixer-upper, but it was fun. Since I don't have that anymore, my 70 Drag Bug was sort of filling the emty spot as a backup driver. Well, now with the big motor and race trans, the 70 DragBug ins't a street car, so it will not be insured again when it expires (Sadly). So this 70 will be taking its place. Probably not right away, but eventually. Here's the old 74. I painted it myself, because before it was just primered. So that's pretty much the plan. Stock motor, stock height, stock interior, sort of beat up body with old paint. | |

| Tomorrow is clean up day. I plan on ripping the entire interior out, and cleaning everything. Maybe even start on floor replacement. | |

| Made some small progress steps today. I went to Bugformance and asked a couple questions, and got a new brake line, the one that goes down the side of the tunnel. Installed it. I also put a non-broken turn signal lense on. "Small steps eventually get you where you need to be." -unknown (I may have remembered if from somewhere, or it's possible I just made it up) | |

| Today I got the carpet installed. There are a couple wrinkles, but once the seats are in, no one will notice. I also installed an original Hurst shifter and the seatbelts. I took a few pics, but havn't uploaded them yet. | |

| This weekend I will be re-covering and re-installing the seats. I was going to put the old seats out of the Drag Bug in, because they're in good shape, but now I decided that with my Cheap-Looking, Kinda-Beat-Up, Looks-Like-It's-Been-Daily-Driven-For-Forty-Years Bug, I want to continue that theme, and have the seats covered in Indian blankets. I saw a 70 Bug last week that was white and had Indian blankets over the back seat, and I liked it. So i think I'll go with that. | |
