Not knowing what setup you have this write up is a good place to start for setup and tuning.

Not knowing what setup you have means not knowing what your engine size is from say 1600cc to over 2000cc everything depends on everything you already have. If you have dual 44s on a 1600 it might be way too much carb depending on what the carbs are jetted at. If you do a search in the engine/transmission section on the samba you will find hundreds of threads on setting up 40 and 44 idf webers with your engine combo. Bring that info back here and post what you did to repair it and the next person can search for it here.

It's stilll just basic automotive, ford gm mopar vw. Start at the fuel tank and work back to the carb or carbs depending on if you have dual 40's or 44's or a single 40 or 44 IDF. Clean fuel tank, good fuel, clean filter and 3 psi fuel pressure at the carb inlet.

Webers are pretty light in the fuel pressure requirement category.

3 to 5 lbs is all you need. So usually if your fuel pump is working at all, it is enough.

Testing your fuel pressure is the best way to be sure. The fact that your bowl fills up, kind of tells me it is working.

So if it idles, but dies on acceleration that could be a plugged jet or your accelerator pumps aren't working.

To check if you accelerator pump is working, with the engine off, look down the venturis, and pull the throttle open. You should see an obvious squirt of fuel in each barrel.

IF those are working, I would look to the main jet as a possible issue.

If the engine idles and you can slowly bring up the rpm but the engine dies under rapid acceleration then the main jet could be plugged. With a 44IDF Weber on a 1600 motor, most of the time you are running under the idle jet accept under heavy acceleration.

You might also have a leak along the intake manifold between the carb and the heads. That will lean a motor out as well...

Just some thoughts.

This is not a bad thread on a single 44 idf with close to stock size engine. The carb is an EMPI 44 but its still a clone of the weber 44 idf and all of the parts and jets are the same. There are some links in the thread to some other tech sections that can be helpful also.

It might have a clogged idle jet. They plug up real easy. They are easy to remove and clean....Kyle

Besides plugged idle jets have you checked the rest of your tune up items ? Plugs gapped and in good shape ? Valves adjusted ? points, cap and rotor all in good shape ? Timing set correctly ? Carbs get blamed for a lot of other issues besides the carb sometimes. Just rule out everything else before giving up on it. When changing out fuel lines and filters it is possable to get something in the line and plug an idle jet. Like mentioned above check the idle jets again just to rule that out.

So I was thinking could it not be getting enough fuel ? The fuel pump pumps it's like a small flow should I put a electric fuel pump that is stronger?

You need both pressure and volume . A good stock pump can provide both. An electric pump can provide both. Some refuse to use an electric pump as there is a real fire hazard if you dont set the pump up with a saftey switch. You need to get a fuel pressure tester and make sure you have the correct pressure and volume at the inlet for your carb setup. Make sure the inlet is clean all the way through. Unreal what I have found living inside my IDF. inlets in the past.
