OK SO A LITTLE BACK TRACK. HERES A SHOT OF THE MATING SIDE OF THE ROCKER THAT THE CLIP BROKE ON. THIS DAMAGE WAS DONE BETWEEN THE BOTTOM OF THE CANYON (AT THE STOP SIGN ON THE BRIDGE IS WHEN IT STARTED MAKING NOISE AT LEAST) ON 49 TO THE SHOP HERE IN ALTA SIERRA.

SO NOW BACK TO THE ADVENTURE
I HAVE THESE AFTER MARKET ROCKERS THAT HAVE NO BADGING, LABELS OR ANYTHING BUT I THOUGHT THEY MAY BE RATIO ROCKERS SO I MEASURE THEM ALL OUT. OVER ALL LENGTH, CENTER SHAFT TO ENDS, SO ON AND SO FORTH AND THEY ALL MEASURE OUT THE SAME AS THE ORIGINAL. HERES THE DRIVERS SIDE ORIGINAL ROCKER I PULLED OFF TO INSTALL THE OTHER AFTER MARKET ONES.
HERE IS THE ORIGINAL SITTING NEXT TO THE AFTER MARKET ONES.
SO AFTER DOING ALL MY MEASURING ETC. I INSTALLED THEM IN THE CAR. I BACKED THE ADJUSTERS ALL THE WAY OUT SO THERE WAS NO ISSUE INSTALLING THEM.
GOT THEM ALL TORQUED DOWN AND WENT AND TURNED THE ENGINE OVER TO MAKE SURE THERE WAS NO BINDING OR ANYTHING.
AFTER THAT I GO BACK TO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND LOOK....................
WELL HERES A PICK AFTER I PULLED THE AFTERMARKET ROCKERS BACK OFF
APPARENTLY THEY ARE RATIO ROCKERS AND IM GUESSING THE 1:1.4 ONES
AFTER SETTING THEM SIDE BY SIDE ON THE GROUND I NOTICED THAT EVEN THO EVERYTHING MEASURED OUT THE SAME BETWEEN THE AFTERMARKET AND ORIGINAL ONE I SAW THAT THE ORIGINAL SIT A BIT HIGHER ON THE ONE SIDE OFF THE GROUND. THE ONE MEASUREMENT I DIDNT CHECK.
SO OFF COME THE HEADS TO REPLACE PUSHRODS AND PUSHROD TUBES. THIS ALSO GAVE ME CHANCE TO MEASURE THE BORE OF THE CYLINDERS AND YUP JUST A PLAIN OLD 1600
IT WAS A GOOD THING THAT I HAD REPLACEMENT PARTS FOR EVERYTHING. I DID GO AND GET SOME NEW TUBES AND SEALS THO. ONLY BECAUSE I WAS 4 SEALS SHORT AND 3 OF THE TUBES I HAVE ARE A LITTLE DINGED UP. NOT BAD BUT THE NEW ONES ARE PRETTIER
SO SHE IS NOW ALL BACK TOGETHER AS OF LAST NIGHT AND RUNNING AGAIN. THIS MORING I RAN IT FOR A BIT TO CLEAN THE SYSTEM OUT WITH SOME SEAFOAM AND CHEAP OIL I HAD LAYING AROUND THE SHOP HERE SEEING THAT I PRESSURE WASHED THE ENGINE IN THE CAR WITHOUT COVERING HOLES ( I KNOW I KNOW
) THEN I DRAINED IT AND ADDED THE VR1 20/50 THAT RAY RECOMMENDS BUTTONED ALL THE LOOSE SCREWS, TINS, HEATER HOSES, ETC UP AND NOW SHES READY TO GO AND GET SOME GAS IN HER SO I CAN DRIVE HER HOME TONIGHT. BEFORE I LEAVE TONIGHT I WILL PROBABLY DOUBLE CHECK THE VALVES JUST TO SEE MAINLY THE EXHAUST VALVE ON #2.
