Holy valve adjusting Batman..

So, I finally got the chance to do a valve adjustment on my new girl yesterday. They were all tight! So got them to the .006 range.. what a difference. Smoother start up and a lower idle.. feels like more power as well.

Forgot to re adjust timing.. which I beleive is off now.. idle is almost to low. So will do that tonight when I get home.

It amazes me on our small cars how something as simple and small a valve adjustment can make so much difference. A lot better acceleration on the freeway.

Be sure to adjust/replace your point as well. (if applicable) Then adjust the timing.

No points...YEAH.. but forgot to do the timing.. plus I put a new cap and rotor on which can change the timing a bit also.. so I will wait for a break in the rain and adjust timing.. I bet this thing will run like a raped ape when all done...hehehehehe

Way to go Brad. It will be a lot more enjoyable to drive for sure.

Is it a dual port? I forget. It should be right...

Put some 1.4 ratio rockers in it if it doesn't have them already.

It will really wake her up...

Then it's gonna need NOS.

Any time you buy a VW, you should do the valves immediately. No telling when they were done previously and if whoever did them did them properly.

Tight valves are being stressed and there's always the risk of breaking one.

Plus the fact you lose compression.

...and possibly, your engine!

Burn'n valves is always fun when the valves are tight...

I have never lost an engine. I have misplaced parts but not the whole engine.

What about the one you sat on? It was never seen again.
