I can't make this one either. We're going to Portland for vacation next week. It came down to the Ranch Run or Kelley Park and it was just easier for us to make it to the Ranch Run. Kyle, are you coming over for the Ranch Run?

Gregg Portland had some spooking hot VW parts earlier in the week. Oval cut for $200.00, Webers I think $300 maybe 400

I was parked next to a 100 out of 100 point perfect Rometsch that was last year's Best In Show, but even next to that shining rarity, Hometown Herbie received 1st place in Special Interest. This was the first year I displayed the engine and entered the judging.
Pretty good next to a $150,000 car. There's a picture of it on this year's awards.
I think I got too much sun.

Yeah, it's a huge show and the competition is pretty tall. Missing this year were the Hebmuller and Schwimwagen that usually show, so I thought maybe I had a chance at something, but really only after sitting near the car and seeing people looking at the window tag and filling out ballots. I had no idea I would take first. There really were some great cars in the category.

This is a driver and I never wanted or expected to win a prize, but it was good to be recognized. While Dann and I know our cars aren't anything like perfect, we did them ourselves and are happy with them, and we've seen lesser cars people payed big bucks to have done.
My happiness comes mostly from the joy the character brings to other people, but as a VW, it is a pretty neet car to drive.
