| The last few times I have driven my Porsche I thought I heard a exhaust leak. Last night hey Chris do you hear that, oh no dad. Today I look for any new oil leaks (hate cars) and I see a crack on my exhaust pipe. I found the leak. Just what I need. After I finish the bug I will drill holes on the ends of the crack to stop it and weld it. | |

| At least you have the skills to work on it. Very valuable.
It kills me when I hear what people are paying for general maintenance!

| Taxes suck... The IRS sucks.... I hate them... I would rather deal with exhaust and oil leaks. Bastards, all of them! | |

| Wow. $600! You can buy a new one and install it yourself (or a buddy) in like 20 minutes for under $200. Those little curved 13mm wrenches make the job really easy. | |

| Spencer is fairly new to Vw's and is learning very fast. He now knows how to do an oil change and valve adjustments. We'll get him lined out on any other issues that should arise. | |

| No wonder he's broke, paying that for a carb.
I hope he knows he can ask people here for help.
I'm going through this with someone here, except he's like 50 and been doing VWs for years. he makes the mistake of ordering everything through a local shop (MARK up!). Even non-stock sized tires. He just paid $130 (PLUS MOUNTING!) each for the exact same tire someone in the group also just got, ordered themselves for $79. I asked him if he'd bothered to look on line, or heard of Tire Rack. He hadn't.
In this day and age, anything they can get, YOU can probably get.
