| So the ride was nice, but the handling wasn't there. I would hit a bump and the car felt like it was going in different directions. The 'feel' wasn't in the wheel. Oh yea, the sway bar... BOOM! Clamped it up, now she corners on rails again. Still great a great ride and getting better. A little loose in the back, but that is next. Stay tuned.

| So while I am finishing up the front end I figured I wold dial in a red fuel tank. I cleaned up the fuel tank out of Kay and started the painting process. And I know I painted the sending unit. It is 'stuck' and I am going to replace it with a new one I happen to have. No use getting the tape out yet... | |

| OPERATION TRANSMISSION SWAP:
Boo Yea, it just keeps getting better and better.
So Kay is so off the chain, there is no way her stock tranny is going to hold up to the power we are going to be laying down. Just not going to happen, but that is a different story.
May's original '69 trans was in bad shape. It would grind when down shifting, pop out in reverse, and sound like it was about to explode into millions of bits when driving on the freeway, oh, and the clutch was slipping.
A side note, the CB Rhino trans mounts are nice but REALLY noisy. Might as well go with solid mounts.
Anyways, it just made sense to make the swap. The later model transmissions with the single side plate are much stronger and are geared even higher than a freeway flyer.
I made the swap and used the Bugpack urethane 3 bolt late trans to early chassis adapter along with their urethane rear mounts. Very smooth and quiet.
Added a new clutch kit for a late transmission since the original clutch disk was wasted and the early pressure plate won't work.
I hit the freeway and at 70 mph, she is spinning at about 2.8K. 3.5K she is doing a little better than 95 and moving right along. I zipped down through town and with my foot in her the acceleration was good.
Being able to downshift around corners is also a big positive.
I am going to add a Berg mid mount to strengthen things up a bit then it is on to the rear suspension.

Don't be such pussies you two. Embrace the dark side and live on the edge a little. - dsimas wrote:
That spider is Bad Ass. Kind of a sign, don't you think? Definitely! I feel it is kind of like the children spawn returning to the mother ship! I want to encapsulate it into some sort of resin and make a shift knob out of it. May is licked with fire again. We are getting our 'tude' back, bring it... F-word-ing Ray is a genius.

| Dude, the carbs were still off and those big bad ass things are kind of 'critical' But a BIG thanks for the assist with the top nut on the starter through bolt. I would have had to wait for a minion to be available. You certainly did facilitate the process... You are now one of the privileged few who have got to touch her. The universe will reward you for your good deeds. | |
