| I noticed the strap. I thought the reason for the white paint is so it wont burn. But the real difference it is in Europe it does not get as hot as here. | |

| well, if the weather holds out I will be there with the Buggy. I was wandering if anyone had a good, cheap, running carb for my 1500? Otherwise somebody can help me try and tune mine so that it doesn't die everytime that we come to a stop. Let me know. Thanks. | |

| I will have to look and see what it is, I bought the carb used because the old one leaked like a Harley. Do you think that it could just be tuning, or should I buy a rebuild kit from PFI anyway? | |

| I am headed into the laboratory and I will look around for them. Remind me later in the week and if I find them I will bring them to the Tech day and we can play. I think I have both sizes and I have read how to fix the stumble with the bigger one by pop riveting the hole in the butterfly. I will look for the tech article and bring pop rivet gun. Sounds like fun | |

| if it is dying at stops.. that is your idle circuit.. needs to be cleaned out. I would buy the rebuild kit. We can go thru it no problem and probably get it running sweet. And Dave can still bring the other one just in case. But the carbs are real easy to rebuild and fix. | |

| Just my two cents, but if you are going to rebuild the carb, you might as well replace the gaskets and seals on the intake manifold. They are not that expensive and since you're going to have the carb off you are almost there anyway.
If there is a leak along the intake, it will cause that issue as well.
I had that problem too before I went with dual carbs. Every time I came to a stop I had to keep my heel on the gas.
Replaced everything I could think of on the carb and it turned out to be a leak in one of the seals between the center and left intake manifold.
I am of the opinion, if it is inexpensive, you might as well do it to eliminate another posibility instead of trying to continue to diagnose it again later.
Although, it most likely is the idle circuit on the carb as Brad mentioned. | |

| I replaced the seals last year when I did an okie rebuild on the engine. I'm pretty sure it's a carb issue, although this would be a good time to re-check the timing and such. | |

| Actually, Matt's got a great point. If it is single port especially.. Those copper rings can leak.. I would throw a wrench on them and tighten them up a bit if you just re-did it. After a bit of heat and cool after a rebuild, should go thru and tighten everything up. | |

| Start you motor you may need a second person if it wont run long enough for you to get to the back of the car. Get a propane torch do not light it just turn it on with the engine running move the torch around the carb and the intake manifold. If the car changes rpm or smooths out it will detect a vacuum leak. A lot cleaner than carburetor cleaner unless you light the torch. Than it gets a little messy. | |

| If it doesn't rain all week(no garage) and I have time I will try and see if it is a vacuum leak, otherwise it will have to wait until Saturday. | |
