Greg's '63 Ragtop project

Ok so the first spot welds were drilled out last night and the dismantling has begun. Like Dawn's engine build, this thread is about to become picture heavy. But, it will show what all goes into doing the body on a VW the TRP way. And this isn't so much of a plug for TRP as it is showcasing what's being done to my car and also showing what kind of work can go into these if they're done correctly. But, as a side note, I have no problem bragging and praising the kind of work that Jason at TRP does. It's nothing short of amazing as you'll see.

My rear apron looked pretty darn good when standing behind the car just looking at it. Most body shops would have just done just a bit of hammer and dolly work and left it as-is. Here you can see Jason work this thing over from the inside out to make sure it's correct and perfect.

Well, today I went and picked up a '61 bug donor car from Dann. It's really pretty solid and rustfree but before anybody freaks out, it was definitely parts car material. It's got the majority of the metal that my car will need.

Is it that one he had down in the trees?

Greg what is going to happen with the top? Hard to tell from the pic if it could be used to graft into.......say a confused 64

The sunroof has already been surgically removed. That's just the gaping hole that's left over.

Any good metal that will not be going in to your car?

My bug was hit in the front at one time and has lots of bondo in the quarters. I'm in no hurry but eventually I want to replace most of the front end.

The front end belongs to Dann. Front clips are becoming harder and harder to find.
