| If you skimp you will regret it in the long run. That goes for money and time. | |

That sounds like you don't have a lot of faith in me. | |

| WHAAA? I have been watching this thread. What the heck happened? I am so sorry to hear that you have to give up on this. It was exciting to watch the progress.
90 hits in an hour and a half on your ad. I bet you'll get what you want and someone else will too. You've done right by saving another little wayward bug from being trashed or parted out. Hang in there.

| Well this certainly sucks. You know, it CAN just sit until you can regroup. I bet your kids, well, Ledger is big enough this year, would even start mowing lawns for project money. You'd be surprised how they'll step up.
Don't take too little for it. Maybe that's how you'll know if it's meant to be. The body damage is all hidden and it shouldn't be hard to make the repairs in a couple weekends. More to make them perfect, but a couple to make them decent and strong. All are undercoated or covered by carpet.
Once that's done, it's paint and literally 10-14 days to reassemble and wire.
And you know you have our support. I'm happy to wire it and do the tedious stuff if you provide me a place to sleep.

| regardless of what it is it looks like you are taking steps to fix what is going on. You moved out crusty and you will do the same with this bug.

| Ok, so here's the latest....... I made the decision to sell the car because I felt like it was the core of a lot of stress around my house. There were varying opinions on both; which direction the car should be taken and also the what, where and whens of the money that would be required to restore the car. To be a little bit more clear here, the kids wanted a Herbie, I wanted a clean Resto-Mod Bug but I didn't really care between the two as long as I was building a car with my kids. I wanted to put "X" amount of dollars into the car per month and Mrs Silvertonguedevil thought "X" amount was too much and she wanted to be somewhere around "L" amount. In my opinion, "L" amount wasn't enough and the car would take forever to build. In the meantime, I'm just wanting a car to run around in to go to club events, car shows and Sunday drives. I could buy another car but that takes the focus from this project. I could sell this project to buy another car but then I not only take a huge loss (financially speaking) with the sale of the car, we've accomplished quite a bit with the car and I want to show the kids what can happen with some hard work. So, in a nut shell, all of the stresses and arguements came to a boiling point, I got pissed and listed the car. I made the decision to not tell the kids until it looked like someone was going to pick it up. That day happened. I had a guy that was heading up from So. Cal. with a trailer to take it home. So the other night, I sat the boys at the table and told them what was going on. I even told them that this would free us up so that we could buy a running/driving car and it did no good. They were both in tears and after seeing this and trying to stumble for answers to all of the "But you promised" and all of the " But why?"s, I realized that I did in fact promise and that I wasn't going to be breaking any promises. We started this project together and we'll finish it together. I emailed the guy that was coming down to get the car and he completely understood. He was super-cool about it. The kids are fine with however the car is built as long as we build it and keep it. So, the car is taking on a different course. We will be building the car as a Resto-Mod. It will be painted in it's original L87 Pearl White like originally intended. It will sport it's original Brick Red/Off White interior and will be slightly lowered with a nice looking set of wheels and tires. I've contacted Dann and we've made plans for the car to be in his hands for paint and bodywork sometime in September (as soon as he's done with the project he's working on). Oh, and "X" dollars will be going into the car! "Game On!!" | |

| Kids I mean mini motor heads get very attached to cars. We have had WW3 over the Porsche. Talking it out with your family was so smart. I wish you luck with the build and peace in the house.

| You can always stuff money in an envelope until there's more of it than you realize. Chunks of cash do wonders for car projects. | |

| While not exactly picture worthy, I put new tires on the car today (the old ones were dry-rotted behind belief) , put some grease on the front wheel bearings and put some of the body bolts back on so that it's now officially ready to make the journey to it's next destination.
