Greg's '63 Ragtop project

So today was a big day. I've been talking with Jason Wrenn from TRP for quite some time now about doing all of the metalwork on my car. Those of you that are not familiar with him or the caliber of work he does, here is just one example of a car that he is currently working on....

So Jason came over to the house, checked out my car and the work that would be needed. Dates and prices were discussed, an agreement was made and today I gave him a deposit to hold my place in line. He will be taking the car approximately the 15th of January and I can't wait to turn him loose on it. I will be posting pictures as I get them and I'll keep you all posted with the progress.

So I'm on Stay-cation. I told Mrs. Silvertonguedevil that I wanted to hang out at home (in the garage) and basically do nothing. I wanted to clean the garage, work on the car, drink some whiskey n' coke and relax!!

So I did some "all of the above" today and loved it!!

Here's the car all cleaned up. It was a dusty mess!

Why isn't that jukebox in the house? You should be shot.

It's about to undergo a restoration and will be in pieces. The first round of parts should be here any day now from Germany.

Time for the next segment. It's finally my turn in the shop so Jason from TRP came and picked up the body today. It will be will be getting a complete make over. He will be doing all of the metal work and rust repair on the car. I told him to take lots of pictures so I'll post them here as they are available. I'm super stoked!!

Greg, I thought you sold your '67, it's listed #123 on the Samba Survivor's list. Guess who's #16?

The Surviving '67 Registry. There's a stickie for it in the Samba under the '58-'67 forum.

I did sell my '67. I put it on the survivors list before I sold it. I didn't realize that Ray was rebuilding your transaxle.

It's going back to it's original L87 Pearl White. There's a million colors I'd love to paint it but I want it to go back to it's original color. It's going to be a resto-mod.

With all the fast bugs out there its making me want to cut the RATS tail off and make him haul ass

Ok so we're underway. Jason had time to get the body thrown up on the rotisserie today. The demo starts tomorrow as he will be beginning the process of cutting out all of the bad metal so we can see what we have to work with.
